Dec 3rd LAN Party Wrapup

Thanks everyone for coming out to the December 3rd LAN Party!  This was our biggest party yet, with 23 people attending.  I was very happy to be able to have everyone and not run into any power issues.  Our only issue of the night was trying to have a 12 person game of Overwatch which exceeded the internet bandwidth of the house.  Why can’t we just run LAN games anymore these days?  Later we discovered Overwatch has a ‘high bandwidth mode’ that may have contributed, however I will look into temporarily increasing our internet limits on LAN weekends in the future.

Pizza was provided by Digsby’s Pizza, located in Seville by Rte 3 and 76.  I think everyone enjoyed that and we’ll probably be ordering from them in the future as well.  Despite the internet issues early in the evening, by the end of the night Krhainos was able to block Windows Update and even allow Steam downloads without affecting anyone’s pings so hopefully that will make future parties run a little smoother.  I think we can all agree that his (and JOOOOOOOOOO’s) internet speed sign was a neat addition.

I don’t have an estimate on when the next party will be yet.  Probably early next year around February is my guess.  I’ll have to make plans on how to run power to support even more people!  See you next time!

THIS JUST IN!

DGS LAN Party: December 3rd starting at 12:00 noon, end time unknown..at this time we project gaming long into the night and early morning.  Details are sketchy, but previous DGS LANs have included the following: Hot Dogs and/or burgers for early arrivals, full size ping pong table, and a new Home Theater area.  Attendees could look forward to playing some guitar hero or Last Of Us on a 92” projection screen!

Popular games these days include Overwatch, Insurgency, CSGO, Chivalry was fun last time.  Left for Dead 2 as always!  DGS favorites also include Pirates Vikings & Knights 2, Team Fortress 2, Evolve, and Orion:Prelude.  Maybe they’ll put some Artemis up on the big screen.  Attendees would do well to update their steam games before they arrive and install some of these popular games.

The DGS has always advertised a DC hub will be available although it probably won’t be.  We’ll see if the overworked host of the LAN can get his shit together enough to make one.  Start hashing your files now just in case and head down to Seville OH on December 3rd at noon!

Back to your regularly scheduled programming..

QotL Wrapup

qotl2016
Thanks to everyone who came to the 2016 Quake on the Lake event in Corinth, NY!

While smaller than last year, we had a tight-knit group of friends who spent the week white water rafting, going to an amusement park, playing trampoline dodgeball and…oh yeah a week long LAN PARTY!

QotL is open to anyone who attends the Dead Gamers Society LANs. See you next year!

As for the next DGS LAN? December 3rd for sure. Maybe sooner! Keep checking back and see you soon.
