Next DGS LAN – “The LAN Awakens” – December 19th, 2015

A short time from now, in a city far far away…

Dead Gamers Society VII:

The LAN Awakens

Come celebrate the “Return of the DGS” on Saturday December 19th, 2015 from 12pm until we submit to the “Attack of the Pwned.”  To ensure the “Empire doesn’t Strike Back” please bring a food or drink donation to the LAN as well as $5 for a pizza party dinner.

“Our New Hope” is to play some games together as a group such as Rocket League, Battlefront, CS:GO, L4D2, Dino Hunter, and others but if you insist on playing “The Phantom Menace” (WoW) that is of course fine as well!

As always the DC++ Hub will be up so hash your files and if “Revenge of the Sitting” in front of your monitor gets to be too much for you there will be ping pong and the home theater will be set up as well.  I am thinking we do a Movie marathon…Star Trek anyone?

See you there!

Next DGS LAN April 25th 2015!

Well we had so much fun last month, let’s do it again!  The Dead Gamers Society is going to host a bonus round this month on April 25th, for those who missed it last time.  We had a much better experience grilling the hot dogs last month, so show up early and don’t miss it!  Bring a soda or snack donation and some pizza money ($5) and let’s finish what we started.

What will we play?  We had fun with Chivalry: Medieval Warfare last month.  There was some interest in Payday (1 or 2).  Since that’s a 4 player game we could play that early while people are still arriving.  I’ll try and get pills and throwables working in the L4D2 server.  I expect the Dino Hunter and PVK will be played as well.  If you want to play D3 or Wow that’s fine too, all are welcome down in Seville.

As always, the DC hub will be up, and you can enjoy TV and Movies on the home theater between games.  Start hashing your files now, and we’ll see you on April 25th at noon!

March 21 LAN Wrap-Up

Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday!  I know I didn’t give people a whole lot of notice for this LAN, but we still got 11 people who I think had a good time.  We started off with Chivalry: Medieval Warfare.  I had some copies of this game from a steam sale and we tried a few different modes.  Sword games seem to be difficult to do right, but I thought this game was pretty good as long as everyone is fairly noobish.  I have tried online play once and got utterly destroyed.  The graphics where a little wonky but it was fun overall.

Next up was CS:GO which we even got to include Archangel and HellsAdvocate in over the internets.  Maybe next time I won’t take it easy on you guys and load my guns with blanks.

Our last game was L4D2 Confogl trying out my custom server.  I still have some configuring to do, since my server seems to not only removed health packs, but also pills and pipe/molys from the game.  This meant that pretty much once you’re injured, you can’t get health back.  This led to quick gameplay and a very clear demonstration of the price you can pay to go back and help a teammate.  Do you rescue your friend and take extra damage or leave him for dead?  To me, that’s what the game is all about and the confogl mod makes that aspect of the game very visible.  It also makes the infected side a little easier for the people who aren’t familiar with it, and a team balancing mod made sure teams weren’t stacked.  Everyone got switched enough that there weren’t real teams which, to me, made it seem like the score was irrelevant and it was more about having fun watching these doomed survivors get taken down.  I enjoyed it a lot and look forward to getting the server done just right.

There was also Diablo 3 being played for many hours, but we managed to keep WoW at bay for this LAN.  I enjoyed it, I hope everyone else did too, and I hope to do another one real soon!  Stay tuned!

Configuring Confogl

I’m having my own virtual LAN at this LAN
